This was my last find on a flying trip to Brisbane and I was pleasantly surprised. After the disappointment of "Board Garden" and what has been done to King George Square this was a very enjoyable surprise just around the back of the City Hall building.

I wonder why the artists and architects that did the square didn't come and sit here for a few minutes before they scratched together their apocalyptic design.

A very nice little garden tucked away amongst the buildings.

The cache was easily located and I signed the log. I took a few minutes just to sit and enjoy before heading off back to my motel.

Board gardens

In my younger days I spend a lot of time in King George Square. As an apprentice chef I worked split shifts and so the opportunity was presented to a 15 year old to create mischief in the middle of the city between shifts.

There used to be a fountain just about where this cache is now located and I recall how effective it looked when someone put colouring in it or detergent. It has now been replaced with a stainless steel structure that I assume someone thought looked good.

I think it looks like crap and the noisy bar in the middle of it only added to the picture of urban mystery (the mystery is why in a location surrounded by stainless steel and concrete would someone use stainless steel and concrete to try and create art) and opportunity lost.

Oh well maybe I am just showing my age and reminiscing for days past.

The GPS went off (it obviously didn't appreciate the architecture either) but after a bit of scouting around I sat on a block of concrete and thought where would I put a cache in this place. I then got up and walked straight to it. Signed the log and took a coin.

I was pleased to find the cache but very disappointed in the square. I hope they don't use the same architect and artists to rebuild the flood damaged areas of Brisbane

Windmill

This windmill is one of the iconic landmarks of our State being the oldest remaining building.

I have sat in front of it a few times and eaten lunch. It was nice to go back to it with a cache in mind.

The cache was quite easily located and I took it back to one of the benches whilst I completed the log.

I took a marble and left a turkey and a balloon.

Stainless Art

I enjoyed this find because it took me to these artworks at the perfect time. It was dark and raining so the lights played on the metal surfaces beutifully.

I spent a bit of time on the wrong side of the street admiring these before I focused back on the cache.

The clue was very helpfull and took me straight to the cache. I enjoyed the hiding location as well.

The log was wet so I put in a dry page that I signed but the cache could do with some TLC from the owner.

Scrabble - St John's Cathedral

The walk from my motel took longer then it should have because the GPS was all over the place and took me down a few streets that I didn't need to see, but eventually I ended up on the spot. The GPS was quite accurate near the GZ as there was a bit of open space.

The area was pretty much muggle free except for the one who walk under me whilst i was suspended above using the light of the GPS to fill in the log.

There was a lot of poking my hands into creepy places for this one (I really must get myself some gloves) and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff I pulled out before my foot found the cache.

I signed the log and took a robot guy and left the "Gingerbread Man" Geocoin that I had picked up at Mission Beach.

I gave this one a favourite as it is my 100th find and also it took a bit of work to get the cache.

Having found " Social Climber" and "Park Here" close together I made may way back out onto Brunswick Street and headed down the road or should I say Up and Down the road until I found this location. The GPS for this one was spot on.

I spied the cache quite easily but then I had to use my "Caching Sense" to work out how to retrieve it. Aha!!! there are two ends to every thing. Got it.

I enjoyed this cache and even though I did not see the owner peeking out from a window as suggested in the posting online I gave a wave just in case.

I signed the log and left a "Traditional Micro" geocoin that started its journey in Cairns.

I gave this one a favourite just because I was pleased to work out how to retrieve it even though it was simple enough for the average bear.

Park Here

What a strange little park. After leaving the cafe centre of "Social Climber" I walked just a couple of blocks to find this one. This is a tiny park stuck in amongst buildings and it seems like someone just forgot to fill up the space with a shed or something so a park has grown there. A grassy area and park seats and a few trees. There were a lot of empty alcahol containers and empty cigarette packets as a pointer to what the park may usually get used for.

In amongst this there was a cache which I found. I signed the log which was very wet, unfortunately I didn't have any replacement.

Social Climber

I flew into Brisbane for a 17:30 meeting so I used the couple of spare hours to seek out some caches close to my accommodation.

This one led me in the pouring rain to a shopping area with coffee outlets any a lot of muggles.

The cache was quites easily located but retrieving it was a bit of an exercise.

Firstly there were muggles everywhere and I am sure they were all wondering what this soaking wet bushy was doing hanging around the garden bed. Secondly each time I tried to grab the cache I pushed it further down the hole. It took me a while to work out that if I poked it from the bottom I could grab it easily from the top.

Signed the log and then waited for a muggle free moment to replace the cache.

Chinaman Creek Traditional

I found this one with the assistance of the whole "Wazza&Kara" family.

I had located the GZ for this cache quite some time ago, although I did approach it from the long side of the creek. The cache was hidden to high for me to get to even though Mrs Brahms6 did give me a leg up. On that occasion we did get accosted by a junior muggle who had lots of questions about our activities (I think he is going to be a policeman in a few years time).

Wazza and I were comparing notes and he told of his trip to the site with a small step ladder under his arms. But this did not get him the height he required. We decided that we would grab my fold up ladder and head out at dusk to try together.

When we arrived at the parking spot there was a conveniently located pile of shopping trolleys that had been discarded, so we picked the best (Coles) and loaded the ladder in and set off down the track. We got some odd looks from the joggers and walkers as we headed down the path but we just smiled and waved as if it was the most natural thing in the world to be pushing a ladder in a shopping trolley.

When we got to the GZ I set up the ladder and Wazza directed Mrs Wazza up into the tree (no one ever accused him of being a gentleman) Mrs Wazza shot up into the tree like a spider monkey and soon had the cache in hand. I stood back and took photo's pretending to the passing muggles that it was some sort of photographic exercise.

After signing the log and taking a band and leaving a wolf and a goat we headed back up the path with our intrepid shopping trolly.

This was a fun cache because it drove us to do something completely bizarre.
