If you ever get a chance to travel along the Peninsular development road that runs from Mareeba to Cooktown take the time to stop off at the lookout and information centre located a few kilometers south of Lakeland Downs on the Byerstown range. You will find a great view and a well set out information display that tells you all about the area.
If you are inclined you can follow your GPSR off the beaten track and find this Cache. After you have found it and signed the log book continue on with your journey and visit what I consider one of the friendliest little communities around. The folk at Lakeland Downs will make you very welcome and you may even choose to spend the night and enjoy their company.
