Brahms6 found this one on 1st January 2011, 68th find.
Well this one has been tempting me for quite a while because I figured I knew exactly where it was. I was wrong. But it was not too far away.
The cache was very cleverly hidden in a camouflaged location right in the centre of Cairns. The pedestrian mall is a difficult place to be unobtrusive whilst you are removing something that looks like a permanent fixture.
Between the local itinerants (I couldn't work out if they were fighting or partying, probably both) the general crowd enjoying the public holiday, coffee shops etc and the crowd of people waiting for the bus it was a crowded place.
Put I managed with a high degree of stealth and slight of hand to remove the cache and quickly wander of to what I thought was a private place in a building entrance to examine the contents. Unfortunately it started to rain and all the bus people followed me looking for shelter. So I pretended I had B.O. and moved on.
Eventually I sat down on the floor behind a wall and opened up the cache. It was then that I realised I did not have a pen to sign the log so had to settle for the attached photo. I took a "Ten Year Tag Travelbug" for relocation to another cache and left a coin.
Now came the difficult task of returning the cache to its home. By now the party had escalated and the bus people where eyeing me off with a degree of interest that I think was unbecoming of them. So Mrs Brahms6 made a point of pointing to different flowers in the garden (I have uploaded one of the flower photos) and generally wandering around touching plants until she was strategically situated between me and the maddening crowd. I slipped the cache back into its home and we wandered off.
